Overview

Our mission is to conduct high-quality participatory, community-based research that investigates and addresses the structural inequities—rooted in gendered racism, colorism, and other systems of oppression—that shape reproductive and cardiovascular health across the lifecourse. Our vision is to be a leading research lab that partners with community to identify and apply innovative, liberatory, and tangible solutions for advancing maternal and reproductive health equity.

Our work (our why) is driven by our lived experiences and imagined futures, our belief in people’s right to survive and thrive across the lifecourse, our belief in people’s right to maintain bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent children in a safe and healthy environment, and Our hope that we can leave things in a better state than how we encountered them!

This illustration describes the mission of the lab, summarizes what the lab does in research and with community, and explains what drives the lab's work.
